2021 - What a year!

October 13 marked the final shipment day for 2021.  We thought it appropriate to recap our year here at Strictly Daylilies and what a year it was!

We started our year with record orders and they just never stopped.  2021 certainly is our best year yet. Our loyal customer base is growing by leaps and bounds and new customers are quickly realising the wonderful attributes that daylilies bring to their garden.

First and foremost, we have to thank our great team.  Tim, Caroline and Jill are the backbone of Strictly Daylilies.  They diligently prepare orders, manage stock, maintain display beds and prepare for open gardens. It's hard to imagine our team without every one of them and can’t fully describe how much we appreciate their hard work. Thank you so much!

The Great British Nurseries feature in the RHS Magazine, The Garden was Fab - U- Lous!  We thank Philip Clayton for the great visit and the great article.  I truly believe we have converted him to yet another daylily enthusiast as shown by his note to me following his visit to Strictly;  "I never imagined the [daylilies] would be as spectacular as they are."  And of course we have to thank Tim Sandall for his awesome photography that depicted our hemerocallis so well. Look out for the new article in The Garden in 2022 which will highlight my favourite later bloom season varieties.

Open Gardens in July was a treat we always look forward to but especially after the previous restrictions of the pandemic.  It gives us a chance to meet our customers/friends face-to-face and share with them the splendid array of hemerocallis choices.  It's a long few weeks preparing but it is so worth it.  The support from our local village of Histon and Impington was incredible and we thank the HI Hub for their support as well.  Huge thanks to Tim, Caroline, and Jane as well as to our daughter Beth and to our grand daughter Millie for their help.

Along with maintaining the display beds and nursery stock we have also extended our seedling field for the hybridising program.  Seeds of pollinations from 2020 were germinated and potted up earlier in the year until large enough to plant out in the field.  Some 7,000+ seedlings were planted out in new beds all done by Tim. I have no words to thank him enough and can't wait to see the initial bloom.

We had such a tremendous response from customers and wish to thank you all for your support, awesome praise and generous comments. Here are just a few of the feedback comments we have received.

"Star service - and you can quote me! "

"My order has just arrived and I’m well pleased. Can't wait to see them flower next summer. They should look amazing. Thanks again for the quality of your plants."

"I had to write and thank you for your lilies. I have never received such large and great quality bare root plants. What a pleasant surprise, really impressed."

"Just a note to say thanks for the plants which arrived safely and in wonderful condition. I could not have wished for better. Thanks so much."

"Three somethings' to thank you for.  First, the ease of use and quality of your website, secondly the service and assistance given and lastly but equally as important the very clear planting instructions enclosed in the parcel."

"I received my order of daylilies today and just want you to know how delighted I am by what has arrived. They are fabulous plants, beautifully packed and in excellent condition."

"Order arrived this morning. The plants are great - excellent value."

"Many thanks for my order. It arrived to me in great condition. My daylilies are growing lovely and I will not hesitate to buy from you again. One very satisfied customer."

Can't wait for 2022!
